Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Windows attached to Eaves in Perth WA 2Sep 13, 2024 7:37 pm ![]() Hi, We're currently building a single storey in Perth WA and got our elevation plans from the builder. We always wanted to have few bricks on top of windows as in our current house or may be they look better. But we were told by the builder that the brick work above windows are not required and all windows will be attached directly to eaves, which looks but odd for us. - Looking for suggestions on attached elevations if they're normal build process in Perth WA where all of the windows heights are attached to eaves in 31c throughout ceilings with 28c windows. TIA. 2 - And around the house the eaves are at 28c whereas some house plans we've seen that one side they are at 28c and other side it's 31c to maintain 25 degrees roof pitch. The way your plans are drawn is cheaper to build because there are no external lintels, brickwork and rods. If you want bricks above your frames just tell them you want your windows at 25c and be prepared to pay extra. Lot's of people when they raise their ceilings like to also raise the window height, so it's just a personal decision you would need to make. As I mentioned our house has 31c ceilings and in the living areas we raised our windows to 28c so our eaves sit on all our windows, but in the bedrooms we kept the windows at 25c so there is external brick above them. Just take a drive around a new suburb or go and look at some display homes with 31c ceilings and you'll soon decide what look you want.
