Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 03, 2024 1:36 pm Hello All,
Could you please help me with the following? At the early stages of the build, the builder provided the drainage plan for our house. It had a title “Interim Plan” and we paid for it. Now we are going to do the concrete pathways, and the actual state of things are different from what we were provided. He even blocked one of the sumps which actually was located in a wrong place. Can the builder change the drainage plans without us knowing? Thank you. Re: Drainage and concrete pathways 2Sep 03, 2024 3:10 pm How come that your sumps are located on the highest points of the block and near the building? Sumps need to be away from buildings to avoid ground movement and buildings cracks. Sumps also need to be located so stormwater can actually get to it (surface water plus under ground pipes). They also need to be of a certain permeability at base, so stormwater can infiltrate into ground. For sumps sizing, you can contact your local council for the correct size based on impervious and permeable drainage areas, location of the block and rainfall events that is required to accommodate.
