Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 15, 2024 11:38 am Hi there, I am building in Melbourne and am just doing some research into Basements and costs associated. Does anyone have a cost breakdown for me for a Basement Install? I have all the quantities estimated myself for soil, besser blocks, concrete etc. I don't know anything about the plumbing costs associated with agi pipes etc. Any insight into any costs pertaining to basements is appreciated Our basement is about 180sqm. Thanks again Re: Cost to lay Besser Blocks, any costs associated with Bas 2Jul 17, 2024 5:59 am ![]() Hi there, I am building in Melbourne and am just doing some research into Basements and costs associated. Thanks again Hi Renee We build basements so I can definitely help you out with some rates. Although mine are from Sydney and Melbourne could be a little cheaper. So if you use my numbers you should be covered. Type of wall - Blocks aren't the best product to use in a basement. You would be better choosing a product like Dincel. Either way costs will be similar. Allow $550/sqm including supply, steel and concrete. Waterproofing - You are going to need an awesome waterproofer. We waterproof both sides and also use an expandable product that lays underneath the wall. So depending on the size of the basement budget $8,000 to $10,000. If it say a 4 car garage size allow more. Drainage - Ag pipe is useless. Depending on your site conditons and get advice from a plumber on this but some form of strip drainage may be more appropriate.
