Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 05, 2008 9:31 am When we were walking around the outside of our house last week, we noticed a gap of several cms between one side of one of the back window frames and the bricks around it. The gap is so big you can see inside the wall through it.
Obviously we are going to bring this up with our ss but I was wondering if anyone knew what they are going to have do to fix this and how big of a job it is? Re: Defect 3Nov 05, 2008 11:56 am I will get a photo later on today. My DH spoke to our ss who has said that it is no big deal and they would fill it with caulking (sp?) My DH said it was much to big for that and the ss said then they will add a metal insert, has anyone else had that? Whether that is good enough is up to you, but every builder does this. "ECOECO" At 'EcoEco', we design windows, we design the best windows, we do it for you, so that when you’re happy we are happy. Gaps next to the windows is different though, but I can't imagine that it would be too difficult to fix with a matching infill or something.
Good luck. Geoff - Decophile. Its the flashing and is normal. Some builders cover them up others just leave them handing. You can cover it up with an aluminium bracket or ask the builder. 7 11227 you need to understand the breakdown of warranties. 90 warranty is considered as minor defects rectification period where as the longer ones are more major/structural… 1 5339 Building Standards; Getting It Right!
