Is this carport adequately supported?

Hi guys,

Can you please advise how this steel carport beam is attached to the house? I assume it must be secured to the house rafter, but cant tell. I can take more pics for you if required.

Can you also please advise if the roof is adequately supported? At the side opposite to the garage door, it It is supported only at the corners.

It doesn’t look like it is adequately supported. I can’t even see it may be cantilevered over the patio post. If this beam is picking up cross beams, the roof is not adequately supported.

P.S Generally it’s not recommended to support roof extensions over eaves as it’s an added load (wind uplift plus roof weight) over the eaves that it may not has been designed to take.

It doesn’t look like it is adequately supported. I can’t even see it may be cantilevered over the patio post. If this beam is picking up cross beams, the roof is not adequately supported.

May i please get your thoughts on this. The corner of the garage roof was severely rusted before. this is what the finished corner looks like (the welder cut out the rusted corner and welded a new one in). Is this considered an acceptable job? The new corner is not completely flush and it's sitting a bit higher than the rest of the beams. I'm happy as long as this will pass building inspection. When i bought the place, the inspector flagged the corner as a major structural defect due to corrosion.

It does look like a butt welding. Butt welding is not usually recommended. The correct way to do it is to sleeve both connecting members and weld members to the sleeve each end.
The welding sleeve size as well as the welding thickness and length should be specified by a qualified structural engineer in accordance with the expected load on the members and as per the Australian standards.
Ensure the welder is also qualified and licensed and the welding is done as per the Australian standards. And the welding is cold gal afterwards.
If you are in QLD you should get form 12 signed off by the welder for the welding job.

It will depend on whoever does the inspection and his pick up to details.
