Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 05, 2024 1:36 pm Hi Team, we recently purchased a 1964 weatherboard home and are looking to re plaster in some rooms. I’ve come across this stuff (see picture) in linen cupboards and was wondering if anyone had come across it before or new what it is. I have a feeling it’s fibrous plaster board with horse hair or some other type of fibre. Any ideas if it contains asbestos or is dangerous. Thanks for your time. Not asbestos We are Expert Consultant's, and we are here to help. What you are looking at is fibrous plaster, true gypsum, it is cast on horizontal beds with fibers included to give strength. I has no Asbestos in it. Houses before 1985… 2 8998 4 2685 That brown colour looks like Masonite or hardboard. Get it checked but typically asbestos was used in wet areas and plaster board or Masonite in other areas 1 2902 |
