Colorbond roof can you extend its life?

l live 4 km from the coast l have a colorbond roof 13 years old , some of the screws have just started to rust and l am getting them replaced, the plumber said theres no rust on the roof itself but he said it will start to rust in several years and l will probably have to replace it in 10-15 years which will probably cost $25K l think, l was wondering if theres a way l can extend the life of the roof to prevent it from rusting, it has no rust at the moment , l would like to keep it that way, Would painting it with something extend its life or would it not make much difference, is it worth the cost of painting it, what would l get it painted with, some sort of rust inhibitor

But wouldnt the rain be as good as a wash or does it need to be pressure sprayed or washed with a certain thing, what sort of cost would it be to have an average sized roof painted with a rust inhibitor paint

Depends on how often it rains

I would still water blast the roof at least every six months

You should pressure clean your roof first and make sure the paint you buy also is anti mould.
