Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jan 16, 2024 11:49 am Hi there I have a Panasonic ducted air con system. Works very well overall. In Sept we had a company out to do a service on it. They identified condensation issues around the 3 outlets in our lounge. The guy adjusted the air con settings etc and messed around in the attic and then left. Recently water staining around those outlets got worse and mould has appeared, see image. I climbed up into the attic and saw that the insulation around the outlets had been removed as shown. I thought this was their error and have challenged them on it and their response is "He lifted the ceiling insulation bats away to check if the duct has been properly attached to the outlets to maintain the insulation of the ducting up to the silver insulation on the back of the outlets. This is the main cause of condensation around ceiling outlets. [name removed] ensured that the ducts were correctly connected to maintain the insulation between the cold air and the hot ceiling. He has left the ceiling insulation to the side to help it dry out as it was damp during his visit. Ben also did some tests and found out that the A/C system was not cycling off, which is another major cause for condensation around outlets. He has undertaken to correct this as shown on the attached invoice. Please note that the condensation was already present when Ben attended and not a result of him leaving the ceiling insulation to the side to dry. " They never told me the insulation was removed or told me to go up and put dry ceiling insulation back. Can a professional please advise on the importance of that ceiling insulation being in place for prevention of the problem I am now having. Thanks.
