Browse Forums General Discussion Re: rust on house I Beams 21Nov 08, 2023 8:07 pm l see your point . Doing it myself would be alot of hard work as its just crawl space under the house and paying someone to do it l was told would cost around $5,000 which l dont have spare at the moment. l will do it in a year, l guess the rust wont be any much worse in just one year . If l did it myself l was thinking of scrubbing the beams and posts with Ranex rust converter and letting it dry for a few days and then painting it all with some sort of rust guard paint, would that be the correct way to do it Re: rust on house I Beams 22Jan 20, 2024 5:59 pm Hello, it's advisable to take the issue of rust on the steel I-beams under your house seriously. While the handyman suggests it might be surface rust and not an immediate concern, it's still recommended to have a professional builder assess it. A professional can provide a more accurate evaluation of the extent of the rust and whether any preventive measures or repairs are necessary.
