The home was completed just under a year ago and the builder never got around to fixing the defects. I will be lodging a claim with DBI. Under 'other losses' section of the DBI fact sheet it states one of the claimable items is a 'consultants report'. After contacting the DBI seemed to indicate that was referring to the consultant they send out after I make a claim. I have seemed some independent building inspectors claiming that their reports may be recoverable under DBI claim. I am considering engaging a building inspector to write a report before making a DBI claim, has anyone had any experience recovering the cost of doing so with DBI?
