Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 18, 2023 7:24 pm We have some very narrow spacing between the roof tiles and the gutter edge, approximately 1 inch in some cases. This makes it difficult to even get a hand in there to clean the gutters. Just wondering what others do in this situation, scoops are too wide, blowers also can barely get in. Re: Gutter cleaning tools for concrete tiled roof. 6Jun 19, 2023 5:04 pm You might have to make something innovative that will 'scrub' the width of the gutter and then use a vacuum with an extended small slot to remove the spoils. A flat, heavy object with short, hard brushes underneath could be slipped into the gutter at a wider opening and loop hooks drilled into the front and back would then allow long tethers to be attached and pulled forward then back by two persons. After a few goes, you will hopefully have a pile of detrius at both ends that you can vacuum up through a small nozzle. If you are really innovative, you could battery power several rotating scrubbers on the bottom and have a remote control to move it and change direction. After the prototype was working, you could then apply for a design registration and sell them, making heaps of money in the process and buy the lambo you have always wanted. 3in1 Supadiverta. Re: Gutter cleaning tools for concrete tiled roof. 8Jun 20, 2023 11:14 pm No, I even have sections of narrowness where the tiles won't slide up any further. When I manage some spare time, I might play around with the first DIY part of my 'idea'. A flow restricted gutter holds a lot of water and 1 litre = 1 kg. Making two or 3 layers of interlocking, thin flat plates maybe 300mm long and weighing a few kg with the lowest armed with stiff brushes (like a yard broom) should be easy to make and test. The weight shouldn't affect an empty gutter. The detritus would still need vacuuming though. 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage.
