If best on backfill it will settle and the concrete will crack your pipe. Thanks Pulse for the reply. Just to clarify, the hole extends another 400mm below the pipe, it is it just full of water due to the rain we had. I think I will wrap it as you mentioned and span over it with deformed rod to shift as much weight off the pipe as possible.
