Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 17, 2023 6:43 am Hi all, Long story short, the builders next door have been very lucky to have (unauthorised) access to our land and have been using our land for keeping their crap on, as well as getting access to their build because the front is so full of rubbish. Have been keeping quiet because didnt want any trouble etc. About 4 weeks ago I informed them to move their construction materials off my land as we were building our fence. They said no problem, when I came back they had simply formed the building materials into scaffolding, still on our land. I told them to please move it across onto their land, their reply was oh we have almost finished the roof, we will have it done by next week. 3 weeks after "next week" it is still there. They're ignoring my calls and emails. I just want to get my fence done, I'm sick of having no privacy. Which is the correct party to report them to? Also they have no construction fence which I believe is illegal in NSW. Re: Neighbour erected scaffolding on my land 2Apr 18, 2023 10:25 am 1. Recommend that you put your complaint in writing the the builders office, if you haven't already done so. 2. The contact your local Council and inform them of what is happening and what steps you have taken already Re: Neighbour erected scaffolding on my land 3Apr 18, 2023 11:53 am Althom 1. Also yesterday caught their workers using our water. They have a tap installed, if they turn around they'd be in reaching distance of it. When I confronted him, he said he doesn't need permission to use my water or land in an aggressive way. We haven't given them any permission to do either of those things. Ive literally had it with these guys. Should I call the cops? Re: Neighbour erected scaffolding on my land 5Apr 19, 2023 7:07 pm ssenssen Althom 1. Unlikely the Police would do anything in what they would probably regard as a civil matter but if the builders are behaving that way it maybe worth having a chat with them to see if it is regarded as theft. Definitely contact your local Council though. They can send one of their Inspectors around to have a chat. Also Bunnings sell Vandal Proof taps so might be worth investing in one Re: Neighbour erected scaffolding on my land 6Apr 22, 2023 8:02 am You are more tolerant than a mate of mine who is a builder. The same thing was happening to him so he took his bobcat around to the site after the tradies next door left for the day and moved all their crap - general rubbish, stacked bricks, scaffold tubes etc and left a huge pile in the middle of their driveway. They were not very happy. Stewie Re: Neighbour erected scaffolding on my land 7Apr 22, 2023 8:10 am Stewie D You are more tolerant than a mate of mine who is a builder. Stewie I'm at the point where I'm thinking about grabbing my circular saw and cutting off the scaffolding thats on my land and throwing them through the windows of where these clown's day jobs are. Told council about it plus the fact that their site wasn't fenced properly and lacked the proper signage. In a day their certifier came and slapped some signs on the site. Their scaffolding remains on my land though. Re: Neighbour erected scaffolding on my land 9Apr 24, 2023 12:29 pm Totally unreasonable, the least they could have done is to ask... Take a photograph of the materials and put them on Fb Marketplace "free, help yourself". Show the ad to the builder just in case he wants to get in first... Before doing that, maybe advise them you intend having all their stuff moved in the next 48 hours. Any damage or loss will be their problem. I guess you could speak to a solicitor and have them write a quick letter. Do you know who owns the property ? Or is the builder doing a spec ?
