Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 03, 2011 8:15 am Hi there, I'm trying to gather some feedback on this company, and find out if many people have dealt with this builder. We're looking at building our first home and really like the plan, inclusions and price that SBG has offered. I have found some good feedback from others (our estate agent, as well as another user on Homeone) but I'm just putting it out there, is there anyone who has any comments to make, before we put down the initial deposite. In the past you could ask the customer service staff there to search their lists to see how many complaints have been lodged against particular builders. Nicole1983 Re: Superior Building Group 5Feb 28, 2012 12:51 pm I just wanted to provide an update, so far so good.. we've signed an initial contract, just awaiting the final sign up. we are happy with the pricing, the inclusions, the customisation as well as the display homes and the builder. For us, the cons do not hold up against the pros, so we are going with SBG. bought land - Oct' 11 Builder decided - Nov' 11 deposits paid - Mar' 12 Land titled -Sep' 12 Site start - 29 Sep 12 Home handed and moved in - 31 Jan 13 Re: Superior Building Group 7Mar 21, 2012 5:53 pm Hi dan1978, that sounds good... and goodluck to you. where are you building? and we're still waiting to sign final contract. still hoping all goes smoothly. bought land - Oct' 11 Builder decided - Nov' 11 deposits paid - Mar' 12 Land titled -Sep' 12 Site start - 29 Sep 12 Home handed and moved in - 31 Jan 13 Re: Superior Building Group 8Mar 22, 2012 2:41 pm Hi there, It's great to see that your are practicing further due diligence rather than just being 'sold to' and trusting your gut instinct. Buyers are certainly becoming a lot more educated in making their purchasing decisions! I always like to find out a little bit about the company and who the directors are. You can find this out by doing a company search on the Australian Business Register to get thier ABN or ACN. From their I normally either contact the Australian and Securities Investment Commission (ASIC) or do a search on their website for a small fee. This will normally provide the basic detail of a company or organisation. From there it is always a good idea to contact the ACCC and research the company or person to find out their trading history and whether they have and black marks against their name. All the best with your building and enjoy the process! I sent them an email on Sunday and haven't heard anything from them Re: Superior Building Group 14May 04, 2016 2:27 pm Hi All, I know this is a very old thread but I would like to hear from all of you those who have built with SBG. Currently I'm considering them as my potential first home builder and I vale your feedback. Thanks Re: Superior Building Group 17May 19, 2016 4:11 pm They will promise you the world until you sign th econtract and then it is all downhill. Customer Service is non existent, we are still waiting on things to be completed 2 years after we've moved into home. We've had a plumbing defect which left our floors and powder room flooded and still waiting on them to repair 3 months on!!! Honestly all the little extras you get over other builders arent worth the heartache we have had. Been an absolute nightmare. we arent the only ones that have had this issue either. If you do decide to go with them, please be sure to get everything in writing, dont move in until everything is complete and when your 3 month maintenance is due, keep on them. We are still waiting on the 3 month maintenance 2 years on. Re: Superior Building Group 19May 24, 2016 11:20 am Ok just to update about my experience so far, they were very helpful and very flexible in terms of redesigning their floor plans as per our suggestions which usually other builders don't do. They also include so many upgrades as their standard inclusions and wound't charge extra if you decide to add large windows, so and so forth. Once we sort of finalised what we wanted, they presented us with the cost and that is just one figure including site costs. They don't provide any itemised figure to say what they charged. However the cost they present is pretty higher than other builders. They also promised that this amount wouldn't be changed even if the build start date is delayed. My land is currently in a bushfire area and I asked them if they could refund any money if the bushfire is removed by the time they are ready to build. And the answer is NO and they charge you regardless and as far as I know from other builders, the amount allocated for BAL is a substantial amount. To me this is not being open and transparent interns of the money you spend and I feel this is ripping off the customer. Re: Superior Building Group 20May 27, 2016 12:10 pm I am not sure about the bushfire area levy but in terms of pricing we found SBG with all its standard inclusions came way under price compared to similar level and other bulk builders. we have been in our home for 3 years, structurally have had NO issues whatsoever. Customer service with all builders is a tough thing, site supervisors have multiple sites so you have to keep at it for informatuon and anything else you need. they were excellent with hand over date and changes to the site even after the build had started. all in all, still an excellent experience. If we ever build again (never say never) they will be our first preference. bought land - Oct' 11 Builder decided - Nov' 11 deposits paid - Mar' 12 Land titled -Sep' 12 Site start - 29 Sep 12 Home handed and moved in - 31 Jan 13 4 14897 I do enjoy the drama:-D In his latest two videos he has started bringing security guards to site, I am waiting for the punch on to begin lol 6 46185 |
