Hi all,
We are looking to build in the Outer Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. We have been in discussions with a few of the volume builders, and a few smaller ones as well.
One of the houses we were quite keen on and had a gone through the initial quote process, has now come back and advised that they are adding a $24,000 allowance for traffic management, and $4,000 for parking permits.
This is almost another 5% of the build value.
The block is in an established area, in the bowl of a court, with another vacant block next door. Both have never been built on. It is a quiet court which is located off another quiet road. Access is fine (normal suburban court) There is also unrestricted parking 24hrs a day.
I don't really understand the need for this allowance, and they have pushed back and directed me to a government website - Code of Practice for Worksite Safety - Traffic Management
I am hoping someone with some experience in this matter may be able to shed some light on this one. They have said it is just an allowance, and they would provide receipts for any costs. But I'd rather not have such a huge allowance in there to begin with.
Anyone else been in the same situation? Thanks in advance.
