Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 27, 2008 2:13 am I came across this document showing the thermal capabilities of hebel
http://www.universaldesignrenovations.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/hebel-thermal-properties.pdf note tha last page it has a comparison over core filled block & brick, it states "Internal and External Surface Film Resistances are not included in the following examples." which to me I would think means things like render & plasterboard yet for hebel it states "200mm CSR Hebel AAC Block Wall with 2-3mm external texture coating + 10mm Gyprock® plasterboard internal lining." but it doesnt state the '2-3mm external texture coating + 10mm Gyprock® plasterboard internal lining.' bit for the results of the other test subjects It appears to me to be a very bias test presented to get results favourable toward hebel,, anyone else see it that way. also I always thought core filled blockwork had good thermal resistance. Re: does this appear to be misleading result to you by hebel 2Oct 27, 2008 8:34 am Surface film resistance refers to the thin layer of air that "sticks" to the outside of surface.
Haven't read the article, but I hope this helps. Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: does this appear to be misleading result to you by hebel 3Oct 27, 2008 7:24 pm ok but disregarding that sentance it only states that the hebel has been tested with render & plasterboard indicating maybe the other methods were tested without these and as such would not give as good a resistance. Re: does this appear to be misleading result to you by hebel 4Oct 30, 2008 12:01 am It would appear that the comparisions are not like for like.
That's why I like articles like these. As basic as the tests in this are - at least is should be a bit less biased - one would hope. http://www.dab.uts.edu.au/ebrf/research/comparative_analysis_of_thermal_performance.html But as will any house design, the material alone is not the only thing that makes it comfortable, shading, etc eaves, etc etc all needs to be considered. I was looking at different options for a fence for my build and Hebel PowerFence seemed like a good option (one of the criteria was a solid wall look). However, I don't… 0 4849 1 5045 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer. Insulation is pretty cheap and definitely worth it 2 3665 |
