Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jan 03, 2023 3:19 pm Hi, I am currently building a new home, and have some doubts about the quality I am getting from my builder. In the soffits around the entire house, i can see the nail heads through the centre of all the soffits. The top floor is cladded with a product similiar to Hardies, and i can see all joins, some clearly bogged, and a large number of nails that have been painted over but are still visible. It doesnt look great but i was keen to get some advice before I raise with the builder. Thanks for your help. What happens when the mastic drys and cracks on the joints? I’m not super experienced in this but weathertex or JH scyon doesn’t do this. Re: Nail heads are visible in soffits and external cladding 8Jan 04, 2023 7:16 pm That's a pretty poor job. I’m not a carpenter but Chippy might weigh in, frames need to be checked with a long straight edge prior to cladding or lining, timber is not always straight unless it is engineered like LVLs.
