Hi guys
Doing some work on my late 1970s house in Tweed Heads, NSW and I discovered some fascinating ceiling lining. See pictures attached below.
The previous owner has glued plasterboard over the original ceiling lining. It appears to be some sort of fibreboard. The fibres break away a little like you'd expect grass fibres to break away from a hay bale. There is a decorative cardboard backed surface glued to it which has little bits of stuff stuck to it.
I haven't drilled all the way through it but let's just say that it's too thick for a holesaw to get through (even the tip). I'm not too concerned as I'm going to sheet over the top of it but I am curious as to what it is.
The loungeroom picture is from realestate.com.au, showing what it looked like before it was sheeted over.
Opinions are welcomed!
Regards
Matt
