Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 21, 2022 11:41 pm We've had our vinyl floor planks (by Proline) for 12 months now. I'm noticing that the grain-look design grooves are staining and not cleaning up. I mop with Sugarsoap as per installer/supplier (and manufacturer?) guidelines. While this cleans the surface of the floor (not great but ok), it doesn't clean the grooves at all and the floor has started to discolour with stains. I mop over twice and scrub quite well with the mop. I'm so tempted to use a steam mop but I know that will probably damage the vinyl flooring over time. Has anyone used a steam mop on vinyl floor planks? I am looking at installing the Proline QLAY product and your post has made with think again! Would appreciate knowing how things are turned out for you. Vanessa Re: Cleaning issue with Vinyl floor planks 3Apr 26, 2023 9:55 am Hi Vanessa. No unfortunately I haven’t found a thorough cleaning solution yet. I use an ordinary mop with. sugar soap solution which is what the installer recommended. It only cleans the surface dirt and not any stains inside the grooves. I’ve concluded that the pros of this product outweigh the cons and to be content with that. It still ticks the boxes that we originally chose this product for. Commercial grade anti slip rating. We have a pool and the kids are in and out of the house dripping wet. We have had zero slippage and I tried to slip and I couldn’t. Also, the house has many windows with direct sunlight and the anti fading properties was another huge selling point for us. We have had zero fading in two years. It’s patterned so the trapped stains is not easily visible. I know it’s clean as I vacuum and mop. It’s just that stains in the grooves need to be scrubbed by hand with floor wipes. And that I don’t even do anymore. I hope this helps. ![]() Hi there, Just wondering if you ended up with a solution to your cleaning problem. You didn't happen to install this product to any stairs with a matching nosing by chance? Re: Cleaning issue with Vinyl floor planks 5Apr 27, 2023 10:09 pm You’re welcome ![]() No we didn’t get the bill nosing done as we have carpet on the stairs and upper level. Photo attached. Side note: in the last two years my kids have dropped all sorts of stuff on the floor, from paint to heavy toys and we’ve dragged furniture etc. Not a scratch yet!
