Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 03, 2022 8:50 pm A long time ago builders typically had margins of 20 to 30% of the build cost. That is, if a builder built you a house and charged you $500,000 then up to 30% of that ($150,000) was their gross profit. The other $350,000 was paying for materials and subcontractors fees. Their $150,000 gross profit then had items such as their work car running costs, insurance, office running costs, etc deducted giving them a net profit (or salary) of $x. Does anyone in the industry know if this is still the case and if the gross profit the margins are similar? Or maybe the whole business model has changed?
