We walked on to site the other day only to find what can be described to look like a fridge attached to the outside of our home. We eventually found out that both our architects and builders did not allow enough room next to the lift internally for the lift control box. Quick run down. Early during the build when ground slab was being poured, ??I overheard the builder talking to the architect about a lift (not the one we have specked in the contract). I had a bad feeling so that evening I went home and wrote and email to the builders and the architects asking if they have the right lift specked and told them what that was. I received and email back from them both the following day confirming the lift I had chosen was the one that was specked. I then asked to go back to the lift manufacturer as one extra safety measure to confirm all details again and had that resent out to builders and architects. Now we have no choice but to have a fridge installed to the side of our house (see image). Neither the builder or architect are taking responsibility, the architects blame the lift people for not picking up on their drawings that the space is not sufficient, the builders sort of blame the architects but not in words. Has this ever happened to anyone else? If so, what did you do? I imagine this is a highly unusual thing to happen.??
