Hi,
I am wanting to remove a brick fireplace hearth from our house. The brickwork is built on two separate sheets of what I am fairly sure is asbestos.
I am wanting to know what the best way to disassemble the brickwork is, while trying not to break the asbestos sheets.
I am thinking of trying to break the mortar between the bricks, and between the bricks/asbestos, using a brick bolster, and remove the bricks one by one. I can also remove the steel edging as shown in the images, which will give better access to the bricks/mortar.
Can anyone comment on if this is a reasonable approach or suggest a better solution?
Cheers, Sam
