Just got an e-mail from these people, I think they have been mentioned on the forum before, but it looks like they are now having a sale on bar stools.

I think I've found mine, Australian made. The stools we have are very good quality and its hard to convince DH they need to go, but we found the new ones are made by the same company. So I think I will get the new ones and keep these ones for the new pool/rumpus room. Paula Re: Cheap bar stools 3Oct 22, 2008 7:42 am I dont really like the bar stools with the little foot rest dealy at the bottom. I they look nice but I've see to far too many of those things come flying off when someone tries to actually use it when adjusting on the seat. If they are more for decoration than anything then yep get em, but if they are a serious bar stool that'll see someone on and off it just about every day, maybe look deeper at the quality to make sure you dont burn your cash. Re: Cheap bar stools 4Oct 22, 2008 8:40 am If anyone sees barstools like these anywhere in Australia, can you let me know?
http://www.allbarstools.com/Hillsdale-F ... F2499.html They will not have the problems with the footring at the bottom as mikkyG suggests:) I can't find a decent, comfortable set of bar stools like this with arms on it here. Greg Re: Cheap bar stools 6Oct 22, 2008 12:18 pm Whilst on the topic of bar stools, got my 4 stools delivered Monday but 2 are damaged, have to send them back for replacements - another 6 weeks or so before the new ones arrive!!!!
The timber had been scratched and in one area whole chunk gouged out!! Harvey Norman replacing without hassle but 6 weeks from order to delivery, Grrr Re: Cheap bar stools 7Oct 22, 2008 2:32 pm gpierce I have never seen those ones either! Are they common in America?
What are your new ones like Paula? Don't you know we need a photo of them?? I quite like these ones ... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The footstool is attached in quite a few places so I don't think it will come off easily as per your point MikkyG. Actually I REALLY like these ones Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ but the shop they are from looks very expensive, so I think I'll compromise... I'm jsut a bit hesitant about buying them sight unseen but at $50 a pop I might have to take the risk... Re: Cheap bar stools 8Oct 22, 2008 3:13 pm Yes, they are pretty common. Really depends on which part of the country you are in as to how common, and whether or not you're building a really trendy house. It seems to me most of the bar stools here are either commercial for Cafes or ultra modern contemporary styling. I like a more classic look. And I don't mean classic 70s ultra modern either:)

Greg Re: Cheap bar stools 13Oct 22, 2008 5:12 pm Greg, they would look great in the garage
Donuts, the lady from Oz Design bought over a stool tonight for me to look at, and its plain square, no back, with four legs. In the shop I didn't even look at it, but in my home it goes rather well - just goes to show its hard to visualise it. I wanted one with a low or no back because my dining chairs are high, and although it is fairly plain, the legs are sturdy and have a solid rubber base on them so they wont scratch the floor. In the last house I bought cheap ones from ebay and one had to be re welded after a few months and the other developed a wobble - I've learnt my lesson. She even bought over leather samples to match up the dining chairs - I feel very lucky that she is going to so much effort for me - Thank you!!! I cant get onto the web site to post a pic will do that later. Paula Re: Cheap bar stools 14Oct 22, 2008 5:19 pm gpierce, what about this style. Not really trendy but more classic looking :

Paula, look forward to seeing your ones. The problem you had with your cheap ones worries me I wonder what I should do... mikkyG - Yes I thought that expensive looking one I liked had the problematic footstool you mentioned - good reason for me to go for the cheap ones ... Re: Cheap bar stools 16Oct 22, 2008 9:13 pm Yes Donuts, something with arms.
Southies, the first one is perfect if it had arms, the second one is a bit too old fassioned, but thanks for looking for me!:) Where are those from?
