Definitely get a 3 phase 5 pin socket put on middle of garage wall as chippy suggests above. You can then connect wall chargers and remove later if required. We actually got one put on both walls for future 2 x EV household during our build, and wouldn't you know it my wife has bought an EV too. EV batteries are only going to get bigger so power needs in the garage will only increase. 3 phase is the way to go. Sometimes you will want to fast charge and single phase wont do it. Re: Tesla or other EV charging point provision in garage 17Sep 07, 2024 11:26 pm ![]() ![]() You could always get a 3 phase output put on the wall. Then at a later date you can either replace it with the charger (hardwired) or have a 3 phase plug installed on the inlet of your charger and plug that into the 3 phase wall outlet. It would be nearer hardwired but using a 3 phase outlet would give you the option to change chargers without having to get a sparky in each time. You can plug and play. Thanks for your reply. 3 phase output is called AC isolator? The AC isolator is a different thing - just a switch to turn off the power to that circuit. The output mentioned about is the cable to feed the power. At which stage should I prepare for this, presumably post-handover at the landscaping design stage?
