Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 21, 2022 5:42 pm Hi all, I have just purchased a 448m2 block in South East Melbourne that has been used as a car park for the last 3 years. There is about 100mm of gravel on the block that I need to remove before construction. The block is dead flat and there is access from the front and side. What would be my best path forward? Does anyone have any suggestions or know anyone who would be interested? Does anyone know how much this would cost roughly? Thanks in advance Re: Site Scrape Options 2Feb 21, 2022 6:07 pm Check the depth of the LPODs first. 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage. Re: Site Scrape Options 4Feb 21, 2022 6:45 pm LPD / LPOD = Legal Point of Discharge This determines where the stormwater discharge from the property out to either council drain / the road. If it needs to go out to council drain, the plumbers will need to be contacted to work out the invert level. If the invert level is deep enough, then you can go ahead and scrape 100mm. If not, you will need to scrape then do the fill afterwards. You can engage excavator / truck combo operator to get rid of the dirt. The cost won't be cheap. About $1200 + GST for excavator / truck combo per day. The tip fees are the expensive ones. Could range between $10-30 per cubic metres depending on which tip locations you go with. Thanks for the reply. How do I determine the LPOD? Is it on the engineering drawings? How deep is deep enough? Do you have any idea how many days scraping 100mm of soil/ gravel would take on a 448m2 block? Is my maths correct in assuming that would equal 45m3 of debris at a worst case disposal cost of 45x$30= $1350 + Excavator & Truck hire? Re: Site Scrape Options 6Feb 21, 2022 7:21 pm You will need to get in contact with council to get the LPOD Report. Some council requires you to pay to get this report. If the LPOD is to the road, then most likely you need to do cut and fill. If the LPOD to council drain, you will need to engage licensed plumber to work out the depth / invert level. Soil tends to "expand" when you scrape them. So 45m3 in calculation could easily double that. No one knows exactly how much until you get it out unfortunately. Normally 1 excavator with 12 tonne truck can take 10m3 of dirt per trip. Depending on how far the tip is from your site, they can do maximum 4-5 trips in a day, so you might need to budget for second day. Standard uninsulated double brick has an R value of around 0.7.
