Re: Driveway slope - is 20 degrees ok? 5Feb 17, 2022 2:50 pm Noname sounds kind of steep. thbiggest issues would be the type of car you're going to take up it and whether it will bottom out when transitioning between angled and flat. Plenty of pictures on google. Thank you for your respose. I have googled but really hoping to see real pictures of driveways and peoples experiences with this kind of slope. I have attached the profile of ours above which has the transition bits in it etc. Thanks so much for your help Re: Driveway slope - is 20 degrees ok? 6Feb 17, 2022 2:52 pm Ashington Homes LucB Hi all, we are building a new home and the builer proposed 23.7 degrees steep driveway. We managed to get it down to 20 degrees by sinking the garage a bit and including internal steps but still worried it will be too steep. Does anyone have 20 degrees slope driveway? Is it okay? Pictures would be much appreciated to help us visualise it. Thank you! LucB Noname is completely correct, it's very steep. I came across this issue late last year ( long story not for the forum) where I found out that some insurers won't cover you for public liability if your driveway is 20 degrees and above in the event that a person falls over and gets injured. So just be careful and check with your insurer. Cheers Simeon Hi Simeon Wow that's another angle I never even thought about! Thanks so much for sharing we will make sure we double check with them. Was the driveway yours you dealt with? Any experiences you can share actually using it? Thank you Re: Driveway slope - is 20 degrees ok? 7Feb 17, 2022 2:57 pm LucB Ashington Homes LucB Hi all, we are building a new home and the builer proposed 23.7 degrees steep driveway. We find it no issue to deal with except for when the kids balls take off down the street. Driveway slope - is 20% ok? 8Feb 17, 2022 9:37 pm We have 19% down the side of the house with a garage under at the rear. As long at you have transitions it is ok. I wouldn’t want any more that that. Is it possible to drop the garage further and do split level with even more steps up into the house? I’ve seen a few garages with mezzanine storage or rooms for a caravan etc with a high door.
