Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jan 19, 2022 10:35 am I am already getting upset with our builder to what I hoped was going to be an enjoyable experience. We have only just signed the contract in November and the builder as already given us 3 price hikes. They are using excuses like delays with demolition and not receiving finance approvals on time. These I can attribute has come down to bad communication from them but they keep throwing back into our court. Is this going to continue for the next 8 months. I appreciate any insight you can give me😊 Re: New home build 2Jan 19, 2022 12:42 pm I can sympathise but building a new house is not usually an enjoyable experience, especially in a pandemic. Lots of people do it once and never again. Price hikes are common even monthly at the moment. My builder had 40% supplier increase in lvls in 3 months, with a jump every month. Communication is the key so keep a close relationship with your builder and try to be understanding and accommodating. If you start annoying them too much they will communicate less and become evasive… it’s human nature. Don’t be soft though, if it is important to you stand firm. Re: New home build 3Jan 19, 2022 2:25 pm Keep detailed records of all commications with the builder. Everything! Treat the whole process as business; expect cost increases, delays, errors, excuses etc which you should deal with politely and firmly. Question anything thats not clear or smells like BS. This is very sound advise. After calming down I spoke with them and reached an agreement as to why they added the extra cost. Your absolutely right Kippers ( and Pulse). I am finding this all out. I was a little harsh with them at first but Then reached an agreement. Many thanks for the moral support If you are in Victoria you have a statutory right to your own building inspector regardless of builder's consent. No negotiations are required. However the builder will… 1 9461 That's brilliant would appreciate if you have you can locate the other doc so I can use it with my discussion with the building surveyor 10 18238 |
