Water feed to house

Hi there,
Can anyone tell me what the standard is regarding location of pipe for water feed to house? I'm a little confused... I thought it would be in the slab not an obvious pipe through the brickwork.
I'm in NSW - keen if someone can point me to any docos or pictures that show what the standard is?
whatever the builder/plumber chose to do
The supply comes from the meter/tank to the structure, up the outside wall generally to the height of the bottom plate of the timber/steel frame for cavity brick construction, through the brickwork into the frame /cavity area. Not up and through the slab. This is done so that the pipe is accessable in the event of a break. Repairing a leak under a slab is a major problem!
