Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Large Pit in Front Yard - Not sure what this is 5Nov 02, 2021 7:26 pm I've seen something similar in the past that was an old sediment trap for stormwater. Water flows out of one pipe, fills up the trap with the water/sediment mix with the sediment falling to the bottom and the water only flowing out of the other to the street gutter. Stewie Re: Large Pit in Front Yard - Not sure what this is 6May 03, 2022 6:04 am Chiz This brick pit was partially buried under the front lawn. It does not appear on any sewer/stormwater drawings. The pit dimensions are roughly 1m x 0.6m x 1m deep. The two t-shaped pipes are hollow at both ends. One goes uphill towards the side of the house, the other goes towards the street-frontage. I'm guessing it may be an old septic tank, but I'm not too sure. House was built in 1950-1960, in the Warringah Council area. The nearest stormwater pipe would be 8m+ away, so I'm assuming it has nothing to do with stormwater. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Don’t know if you got the answer you were after. I have a small plastic version in the front yard that was installed to try move on some of the winter/spring excess rain the turns my front yard into a swamp each year. They catch the sediment and allow the water to flow through minimising potential blockage. The one I have was poorly placed and to try save the house I’m looking at doing a ‘French drain around the perimeter of the house’ If you find you have poor drainage too maybe check it out they seem effective (if put in the right spot) there should be ss cable so you can pull up bore pump for service 1 3153 Thanks for that, the PVC pipe is still about 40cm below ground level and it sticks out of the sand with no end cap or anything on it just open pipe, is this the finished… 2 10466 can someone with more experience give me their insight? land is pretty much flat its pretty much at the top of a hill. left and right neighbours are flat in line with my… 0 7466 |
