Thanks so much for replying. I don't think there is any joining strips. Its in basically one large piece/sheet in bathroom ceiling. Are these usually hard to remove and to replace with plasterboard? Is perforated canine usually asbestos? Is perforated canine usually asbestos? That should have read Caneite, a compressed sugarcane straw. If there are no joints then probably it is not Caneite. Removal of light fitting will expose material for identification. They've used a vee joint so I'd say it's either the canite or masonite. Both are timber fibre base so no asbestos to worry about. Canite will be roughly 10-12mm thick and quite soft, masonite is thin (around 5-6mm) and is fairly solid and hard and is a dark brown colour. I've never seen an asbestos sheet with holes like that and there'd normally be a joint strip or batten on the joints. I'm pretty certain you'll be right to remove and replace. Like building expert said, once you remove your light fitting you'll know. I found an old picture of when repairs being done to a section. See below https://ibb.co/RBT442v Re: What is this roof in bathroom? 11Sep 08, 2021 5:08 pm It looks thin and the colour of masonite. Either way it doesn't contain asbestos so you can do as you please with it.
