Wood and clay tiles expand about the same, and importantly, lesser in general, so you don't have that happening with this combination. I currently live in a timber and clay tiles roofed house, and previously lived in a timber /colourbond house that made the noises. Honestly, I didn't mind it, and mostly I didn't notice the noises except for hail or extreme temperature changes. In this way the 'popping' (actually more a slide-stop, slide-stop noise) informed me about the weather outside, so all up I didn't care. When I moved to the tile roof house, I missed the noises that used to indicate the weather conditions outside. I kind of struggle with that. I’ve lived in tin roof houses for years and haven’t had this issue, including recently built properties. Expanding and contracting from the temperature, sure, but why in one section of the house only at night and the rest is silent? Re: Cracking and Popping Noises from the roof 6Mar 18, 2022 4:26 pm Oasiso sounds like we have very similar issues. Late last year had my tiles roof replaced for colorbond and it has been the worst decision of my life. During the day the bangs are like rockets going off, and during the night it’s pops and cracks 3am 6am doesn’t matter, it’s literally all day and all night. Can’t sleep. Builder wants nothing to do with it, won’t return my calls and takes months to reply to my follow up emails. Steve Oh and ps, my previous house I replaced the roof for colorbond as well, and not one single issue, so I won’t accept anyone telling me this sh!t is normal. Ain't that the truth! We used to have a tile roof and had it replaced with colorbond and suddenly everything throughout the entire house sounds louder! 4 6688 Hi, I have a steel frame house which was built 2 years ago. When you are down stairs you can hear clunking noises when someone is walking around. We were told if you… 0 4457 1 6629 |
