Only kidding. With Siddle playing, and Cam White from Bairnsdale, 130km down the road, that's 2 players in the team from my region, totally awesome! Back on topic. I can't see interest rates falling to zero, especially with the comparative strength of the Aussie banks. Geoff - Decophile. Must stock up on Vitamin E! Geoff - Decophile. Re: Car Loan sydney / car finance sydney / low interest 39May 29, 2009 11:59 am thlo Have you seen any 0% or 4.5% interest offers on new cars? You probably thought they were being kind and generous. Rather than buying the car with an $8000 discount and paying 10% on interest on the finance, that way you pay full recommended retail price for the car and fat brokerage fees. If the finance is for commercial purposes like a lease, hire purchase or chattel mortgage and you are not protected by the Consumer Code, you won't even know the effective rate you pay on the finance. That is correct. The margin that a car finance company will be made on fees or low interest on a higher purchase price. Re: Zero interest rates in 2010 possible! 40May 31, 2009 2:08 am Hi all You can’t beat a bit of economic news/ Bull @#$% can you. Generally the same person (Academic, forecaster, economist, snake charmer) will be saying the exact opposite next week. I think the news article was referring to RBA official cash rate. As we all know the banks act independently to the RBA. The cash rate is currently 3% and unemployment getting higher. These record low interest rates have allowed 1000s of people to own their own home. Also the low or no doc lenders have helped many who would still be renting today have a home of their own. Lets look back to the 80s (showing my age a bit) when they where 10-18%. And guess what you had to have a thing called a deposit. As to the Official cash rate YES may be not 0% but 1% is a real possibility. This means bank home loans will be around 3-4% now why that is so unbelievable. Global recession & higher unemployment, hey the good times are over. You know what that can mean, falling house prices. On a brighter note, what a great country we live in. The Gov. gives people (even people with dual citizenship) money to buy a home in Aust., do all they can to keep interest rates low so you can eventually pay for it and the banks where willing to lend you 105% of its value. So please think twice before complaining about a .25% hike in some years to come. How many on this site would be building if the bank required a 30% deposit. On a 420k home that’s 120k. We are living in very uncertain economical times. Thus your home will be an asset, as a place to live. I also think it’s a great time to borrow as much money as you can as long as you have a good job. Just my .25% worth. Kind regards to all King Willy............ “It's just as unpleasant to get more than you bargain for as to get less” George Bernard Shaw. You must be new to the internet.
