Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 16, 2008 1:39 pm Hi!
Not sure if this is the right section to post this question, but here I go anyway. We have a white fibro house with a red brick facade. Currently we have terracotta roof tiles but these will need replacing within the next 6months or so. We would like to get colourbond roofing. Could anyone please give us some ideas with regards to house colour and colourbond colour. We don't want to paint the brick as its quite a nice feature. My partner wants to paint the fibro a dark blue but I am not sold on it because of the red brick. I just can't picture it. We live in a semi-bushland area with lovely views of an escarpment. Any suggestions would be appreciated! How do you render fibro? But yes……I’d get rid of the brick as well. It has visible signs of cracking and aging. Sounds like me. I would remove the battens so that the joints on the fibro is left exposed. I would then use a harditex jointing tape and fill the joints with 'Acrapatch' (Joint filler) , mixed with cement. Then it's best to use Acraprime (at least over the joints but I wouldn't worry about the painted surfaces if the condition is sound). Then it's just a matter of selecting a texture. It is best to paint the texture to fill any 'pin hole' with weathersheild (or equivalant), but i'd suggest Acrasheild which is a Membrane and will ultimately provide the best form of protection. I would render the brickwork also - there's clearly been patch up work due to different coloured mortar. Between (or dividing) the fibro and the brickwork, i'd cover with a wide batten. If your money stretches that far, i'd also replace the front windows - they're typical 70's cast iron frames with a miniscule 'style'. Anyway, I think it would would look a million dollars for some minor attention to detail. welcome to learning that colours vary in different lighting conditions. 1 2910 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7171 Hi - thanks for your reply. Yes I think 'Ill go for whitish with very speckly bits rather than pure white something like this.
