Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 21, 2021 11:44 am I'm a weekend warrior and I need some advice on the allowable over hang for pergola rafters. I want to use 140x45 H3 rafters spaced at 450 centres. To provide shade under the pergola I want to use 100x15 H4 "slats" on top of the rafters. These would be spaced with a 45mm gap. Could I have a 750mm overhang ? If not what would be the maximum overhang I should use ? Cheers Re: Pergola Build Rafter Overhang ? 2Aug 21, 2021 12:58 pm Andy1954 I want to use 140x45 H3 rafters spaced at 450 centres. Cheers Hey Andy1954 Welcome to the forum ( make sure this is on your Drawings for CDC Building Application:- Note as per AS1684.2 N1 & N2 Table 29 Rafter or Purlins Spacings:450mm Overhang Size:-140x35mm Roof mass:-90kg/m2 Single span of rafter is less than the required 800mm Overhang being 700mm therefore rafter overhang is compliant LOL now all you need is an engineer to certify N1 Wind Loading and connections? On second thoughts, just find a local engineer that will do the drawings and structural certifications Ot, navigating around the codes and compliance is a minefield... even when you can prove compliance you may still require an engineer...? Passed inspection. 13 7808 Thanks Ardo, they are sort of semi concealed. I think it is only a few millimetres. I see if they can adjust the hinges. 4 3799 Is there a building permit? RU in Victoria?
