A bit overwhelmed by the whole process. I have spoken with quite a few draftsmen/ architects and builders. At this stage I’m leaning towards using an architect recommended by one builder to go through CDC. He seems to be good and the fees are reasonable, the thing is he doesn’t seem to be interested in doing the interior nor building management. And I think he assumes I will use the builder who recommended him. The thing is this builder was recommended by a friend, but I haven’t met him due to lockdown. Should I get a few quotes from a few builders ? How do I do it without the interior details? Who should I use to help with contract signing with the builder? Many thanks Judy Hi savagepuppy It probably doesn’t hurt to get alternative quotes from builders. Even if you intend to work with the recommended Builder, other Builders might provide helpful insights including costings and any challenges with the project. Before you sign, it’s best to review the terms of the contract. You can do this yourself, or, if you want to make sure you don’t overlook anything, you may consider engaging a specialist construction lawyer to do a thorough Contract Review, and to give you legal advice on how to administer your contract and make sure the building project runs smoothly. You may choose the same lawyer to assist you with signing, or you can sign it without anyone’s assistance, for as long as you’re confident you’ve got all the bases covered where your contract is concerned. Cheers, John Many thanks for the detailed explanation, much appreciated. I agree with you, it is important to have the contract reviewed and signed properly. guess I’ll just take one step at a time and worry about it next, as at the moment I’m trying to decide on the house design/floor plan 6 22567 We've had the offer of a short term tenant whilst waiting for CDC/DA home approval and demolition for our knock down rebuild.
