We are considering extending our double garage by 2m. Has anyone got a rough guide for what this might cost before I get quotes? I am based on the Sunshine Coast. Hi, Building Designer from the Sunshine Coast here, we offer free site reports to work out your potential options. Depending on where you are located you will need to consider minimum setbacks, building heights (if building to boundary), and impacts to existing roof and structure. If building close to the boundary on an older property, it’s highly recommended to get an Identification Survey done to reinstate boundaries (this ensures you done build on your neighbours land). At the very least you’ll need to engage a Building Designer, Structural Engineer and Private Certifier to obtain the necessary approvals. When it comes to selecting a builder they will need to be appropriately licensed and provide you with a building contract (required by the QBCC as the value of work will be over $3,300).
