Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 04, 2021 10:03 am I want to completely re-do my office and I want to use Kitchen Cabinets to do it. My issue is that I have a large window right in the middle of my room which is low. I need the total height to be under 770mm Kitchen cabinets are 720mm high but you have to allow for the legs/kickboard and then the benchtop. Has anyone done this before? Am I going to get it to fit into the 770mm hight requirement? I have carpet so it needs to be high enough so the doors can open and close properly so do need the lets in there, just not sure how low you can actually get them to go. I am getting flatpacks and can't afford custom made. Re: Using Kitchen Cabinets in Office 2Jul 04, 2021 11:46 am What's the layout and configuration of the office? There is a way you could possibly make it work. Proper office furniture is only 720-750 high overall and is made to suit. What you are hoping to do will always be a bit of a compromise. I'm just after a more professional look I guess. Re: Using Kitchen Cabinets in Office 5Jul 04, 2021 1:40 pm I am talking about custom office cabinetry. It's never 900 high. The only way I can see you making kitchen carcass work would be to sit the carcass on 16 or 18mm board to lift it off the ground and the doors can still open, then use 25mm benchtop. That would give you an overall height of just under 765mm. It won't look so good and functionally won't work so well having the doors or drawers almost touching the ground. When I build custom office cabinetry the carcass is typically around 600-620 with 100mm kicker and 32 or 25mm tops. It will be tight but doable. Failing the feet I think using the board will also work. https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/eket-foot- ... jcQAvD_BwE You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want.
