Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 08, 2021 8:58 am Hi all My partner and I are looking to undertake a new build in the Kingston council area. We already have land and it’s great large so looking at doing a dual occupancy and selling one. To date we have had preliminary discussions with Carter Grange but as we have had NO experience with a new build we’re not sure if we should be talking to other builders (i.e local and smaller than a value builder), or even what information a builder would need. We like the idea of a value builder as it’s a one-stop-shop. With small kids and jobs we just don’t have the time to be going to multiple sources for soil testings, arborists, designers, town planners, draftspeople, etc. Would it be challenging for novices like ours to project manage the whole thing or should we look at someone who can manage the whole process for us? Carter Grange haven’t given an indicative price for what we’re after so we don’t know if we’ll get half way through the preliminary process and then find out they’re way out of budget. Like I said, this is all new to us! Would appreciate any feedback and assistance anyone has! TIA Re: New Build - Kingston Council area 2Jun 08, 2021 8:59 pm I would definetly recommend going with a volume builder rather than project managing yourselves. I’ve see a lot of dual occ builds in the bentleigh east / Kingston area with ‘masterpiece’ so may be worth looking them up?
