Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 19, 2021 6:51 am Hi , Am looking for a custom house with my own designs, but realized for my budget going with typical custom builders are costly. Now I came across RAWSONS tailored process. Was told they will sort of take my ideas and are willing to make changes to their current designs to suit my requirements. Also as they are having three types of custom collections, looks like I know exactly what it will cost me if I choose from one of their custom collections. Anybody had so far engaged RAWSONS through their tailored process. Any inputs of actual experience would be highly appreciated and in general your experience with RAWSONS from pre build, build and post build warranty Thx Re: Anybody engaged RAWSONS tailored process/ 3May 19, 2021 9:51 am How do you get 3 other Builders to quote if they own Copyright of your ideas? it's not as if you can get others to sharpen their quoting pencils and then select one as you are locked in OT, very slick marketing but what your post highlights is battlers deep seated suspicions. In the old days Builders would have Silver, gold and platinum metal levels and unlike commodity metals their was no internet back then to check fluctuating prices as there is today ie Rhodium most precious of metals Cheers Chris Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Anybody engaged RAWSONS tailored process/ 4May 19, 2021 10:11 am StructuralBIMGuy How do you get 3 other Builders to quote if they own Copyright of your ideas? it's not as if you can get others to sharpen their quoting pencils and then select one as you are locked in OT, very slick marketing but what your post highlights is battlers deep seated suspicions. Understood, RAWSON still have their own approach, where you can just choose one of their designs and proceed. Understood, they had carved out tailored process to enable anybody who wants do some sort of customisation. So, as I cannot go with architect or a pure custom builder, it looks RAWSONS gives me an opportunity to experience you know sort of little bit custom design experience and at the same time, I can pick from one of their packages what I need. So trying to understand, if anybody had approached RAWSONS' tailored method and curious about the feedback. Ofcourse simultaneously I had shortlisted some cookie cutter designs of WISDOM and CLAREDON and eventually thinking of choosing tailored product from RAWSONs, [which hopefully will have some of my stamp] or just take one of existing house design from WISDOM and CLARENDON. So trying to see at the same time, in general between these three builders who are good, or all are same, or some is better than others. Thx Re: Anybody engaged RAWSONS tailored process/ 5May 19, 2021 10:38 am In my example Tailored suits is not a traded commodity...where everyone is familiar will the current price Once you hand over a deposit to a new home salesman It's like being fitted with a straight jacket...LOL no room to move/ locked in (humour) You would do best to own your own design and data to start with. Don't have a salesman tell you its equivalent to one KG of Rhodium ( approx $900K) your problem becomes Battlers have no idea of the true cost of what's in your house and whether you're being ripped off on post tender variations, ie engineering Having your own design safeguards you from copyright infringement, if you eventually choose to go elsewhere Having your own 3D Bim data and costs takes you to the next level to compare elsewhere hth Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs I apologise for any confusion, but your understanding is correct.
