We requested in our build for 92mm skirting with 75mm architraves so that when the flooring went in afterwards we would end up with a visually quite close match between the two. As it turns out, i don't think the profile we selected was available in 75mm (despite no one telling us otherwise through multiple tender and colour discussions). So unbeknown to us, the builder has gone ahead and put in 92mm for everything and now i'm left with the dilemma of whether or not to just leave it or push for something closer to what we had in mind. Without seeing a finished house i find it hard to visualise what it will end up looking like and am second guessing myself if 92mm for all the door and window trims will be a bit over powering. Maybe i'm overthinking it...... :/ Follow my build here: https://www.instagram.com/ivy5custom Re: skirting/architrave sizes - thoughts on sizes 2May 16, 2021 11:41 pm 92mm is very big for architraves. What profile are they? If they are standard double bullnose then normally they are around 42mm or 67mm depending on manufacturer and state you are in. Lots of older houses with ornate architraves used wider sizing but contemporary builds tend to use a bit more minimal look. They are just a standard single bevel profile so nothing ornate at all. Would 92mm skirting with 67mm architraves look odd? Not sure what flooring you will get, but skirtings usually goes over timber floors, not the other way around. It was going to cost us a few thousand dollars to request for the skirting to be laid after the flooring and only a few hundred dollars to request different sizes of skirting to offset the difference. So we went with the plan of getting 92mm skirting and 75mm architraves which would then leave them looking reasonably equal in size after the tiles went in after the skirting making them appear around 75mm. If we have to drop the architraves to 67mm though that effect doesn't work, but still might look ok (i'm just not sure).
