Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 18, 2021 1:52 pm Just trying to get a view as to where most people are capturign their progress/viewing others builds? Is is Insta, wordpress style blogs etc. Seen a few on insta of late and it seems that the platform most favored these days. Just wanted to make sure before i chose some dead approach. Re: Where do you follow peoples builds? 2Mar 20, 2021 8:50 pm I built 8 years ago, and home one was amazing, a real commmunity, now i find people just come ask a question and leave. Ive just built again and follow hundreds of builds, amazing community, great ideas, very supportive Re: Where do you follow peoples builds? 5Mar 21, 2021 10:53 am gogo65 I built 8 years ago, and home one was amazing, a real commmunity, now i find people just come ask a question and leave. Ive just built again and follow hundreds of builds, amazing community, great ideas, very supportive They ask questions here as homeone is still the best place to post your build and source information. IMO, you get bugger all information on Insta and from following sales influencers...there is no trust associated with a thumbs up, wink and a good ol slap on the back. OT eight years is the general build cycle, most will post differently the next time around. I don't want to follow people's builds for technical information. I will follow them on Insta for styling inspiration and general ideas sharing. Of I want technical information, I'll go elsewhere. Home one is one of many sources you can go for technical discussion. Insta is social. This place used to also be s o me what social. It's not anymore. Because of better platforms for that aspect. No one is going to Insta for technical problem solving lol. Dark matter scientist, can breathe underwater, mind reader and can freeze matter just by willing it. Trust me, its in my sig. Even the latest forum that promotes member influences and insta has failed miserably at a loss of millions. boris594 I think the crux of the problem is that the message forums often end up being unfriendly They should open up private messaging on social then you'll get a taste of reality Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Where do you follow peoples builds? 12Mar 22, 2021 4:12 pm Noname, when i built 8 years ago, Homeone members met up for coffee did walkthroughs of houses etc, there was a lot of banter, that social side is definitely missing now, I find people come here looking for free advice (that they really need to be paying someone for) or asking if quotes are reasonable. I still keep coming back because I like all things building, and hopefully can help others along the way, And structuralBIMGuy, yeah I’m definitely way to old to be in the ‘look at me generation’, but i do enjoy reading about builds and seeing different ideas. There is definitely not the structural/technical questions on instagram, more about the ups and downs of building and people telling their story, clearly that doesn’t appeal to you, and that’s fine, stay happy here on Homeone Hi, We are looking for a builder that can build a small home (smaller length) on a sloping site.
