Hi guys,
Looking for assistance trying to match dulux lexicon quarter to a similar colour in the taubman range. Struggling to find something that looks close with a similar base and the builder will not tint to match.
Thanks in advance

Struggling to find something that looks close with a similar base and the builder will not tint to match. Thanks in advance Hi, Did you managed to find equivalent or near equivalent of Dulux Lexicon quarter in taubman range? I am looking for the same thing as well as our builder is only supplying taubman range only. I went to Bunnings to grab some sample of lexicon quarter and some taubmans. I tested the samples using a proper color meter (instrument cost over $100000) from my office as we supply raw materials to the paint industry. Here’s my finding. First number is yellow index and second number is white index. Dulux Lexicon quarter=2.85, 87.25 Taubmans sample Cotton ball=3.58, 88.71 Crisp white=4.27, 88.51 Brilliant white= 2.69, 90.84 Miss universe= 0.04, 84.10 Based on the results lexicon quarter sits between brilliant white and cotton ball in terms of yellownish. What I found as well is that dulux is more viscous and taubman is more runny. I paint it on a wood board and 2 coats of dulux equates to 3 coats of taybman in terms of coverage. I blind test my 7 year old son for his preference and he can easily point dulux. What can we do? Just deal with it. Re: Dulux Lexicon Quarter - Taubman range 3Apr 27, 2021 2:04 pm Hi Leona, I tried a very similar process to you with process of elimination besides the expensive equipment. Couldn’t find one that was a very close match from my eyes anyway. These were my findings: Cotton ball seemed too creamy Crisp white - seemed creamy too Brilliant white - seemed untinted white, too bright Miss universe - seemed too grey. This in half/quarter strength would have worked well. I ended up with Cotten sheets as a compromise that seemed okay but moved away from being a close match to LQ. I’d be interested to see where that sits on your scale. Thanks Re: Dulux Lexicon Quarter - Taubman range 4Apr 28, 2021 8:21 am Hi, After letting my painted board with taubman cottonball I could see the yellowish creamy colour. Went back to bunnings and ask for Taubman Akimbo. It was tinted with minimal amount of blue and red. No more yellow cream colour. They said its equivalent to Dulux white on white. For ceiling i’ll go for brilliant white (base of all taubmans whites without tint) just like the vivid white of dulux. Both brilliant white and vivid white have yellowtones on them. We’re almost 100 percent sure to go for this colour. Re: Dulux Lexicon Quarter - Taubman range 5Apr 28, 2021 12:16 pm From my experimenting with the akimbo pot and letting it sit, that seemed too white in comparison to Lexicon Quarter. Although Taubmans color selector matched to it, I couldn’t see it being the closest. Putting it up against LQ walls, I still couldn’t say it was a match from my eye sight.
