Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Dec 26, 2020 12:42 pm Need an advice/expert help please. Our builder said we do not need complying development approval for extra room and laundry to addition to family room area but upon speaking with council I believe we do require CD approval. The frame work has already been done for the extra addition, how can I go about getting council approval or will private Certifier can be involve at this stage? Thank you so much for your advice! Re: Complying development approval help please 2Dec 27, 2020 7:41 am First, what state are you in? Second, it's depends what zone you're in, whether you have an relevant overlays or if the local council have triggers for building work. Most properties are exempt from requiring a DA because the primary use (as a house) is already approved. However, depending on the above you may have triggers which require additional building works to be assessed based on say, traditional character, overland flow or ecology etc ... So more info is required please. ๐ Follow Our Clarendon - Double Gable, Hamptonsย Inspired Fairmont 35 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=94604 Re: Complying development approval help please 3Dec 27, 2020 9:09 am Rhetti First, what state are you in? It's residential zone in Sydney south west area and family room area was approved to to build as extension/addition back in 2003 by previous owner. We are just renovating kitchen and bathroom etc so we decided to add small laundry plus one extra room for storage (previous owner added plumbing area there for some reason so plumbing was easy). I am super worry and don't know if I should stop the reno or continue. I honestly don't know what to do or who I should be contacting to rectify this matter. Thank you once again for your response ๐ Re: Complying development approval help please 4Mar 10, 2021 3:00 pm zyaree Rhetti First, what state are you in? Thank you once again for your response ๐ your builder could be correct. You are allowed to build a storage room as an exempt development ( similar to a storage garden shed) I think the limit is 15sqm but could be wrong.
