Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jan 13, 2021 9:37 pm We recently settled on a new home with a reputable builder within an estate. We have noticed the upstairs flooring to be quite ‘lumpy’ with the beams significantly protruding particularly in the hallway between bedrooms. The staircase creaks significantly. When I enquired about the lumpy floors I was told “we build with cassettes - we can shave them down”. We have also acquired a possum in the roof which is hard to understand with a new construction - flat roof with colourbond. Also, the colourbond is making significant noise as it expands and retracts with the heat. We had independent inspections (they recommendation) but we are growing in concerns with what happens. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Staircase creaking can result from poor joints or/& undersized structural members in which case you will need to refer to your engineering drawings and have them checked against as built BTW photos help others and creep and creaking gets worse over time, so have it looked into and fixed during the structural warranty period Cheers Chris Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs I am looking at building a house.
