Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jan 13, 2021 10:36 am Hi All, Hubby and I have recently purchased 1/2 acre in a small victorian country town on which we are planning to build our forever home. We are undecided on whether to go with a transportable home or one that is built on a concrete slab (not our first preference to be honest). Before we decide on which path to head down I wanted to ask how did those of you in a similar situation go about finding out your B.A.L? The block is in a bushfire prone area however does not have a bushfire management overlay. Being the overly organised person I am, I would love to go into our house decision with the knowledge of our rating, that way any extra costs will not come as too much of a surprise. Is it possible to get the rating assessed prior to even building? Is this a thing? Or do we need to wait until we build? How have others approached this? Thank you for all your help - Its a long road ahead for us and I would love to make it as stress free as possible. Thank you. You should also be able to go to your local council and find out what your land is rated for regarding BAL.
