I am building a swimming pool unfortunately running through garden are a sewer line and a vent shaft. Seems funny but apparently i can build over sewer line as long as encase, but it is hard to move vent line and complicated.
Can anyone explain why vent line harder?
Apparently if I want to move Vent Pipe its a different application process and costs more. Anyone able to advise the cost and how long it takes?
I was hoping to just move underground pipes around the pool.
Also apparently the sewer pipes are asbestos...never knew there was asbestos piping. Does Sydney Water have to replace cost of pipes? not my fault they asbestos.
Thanks hoping someone can help.

Take a copy of your plans and go see a water services coordinator for your area. If you are going to move the vent pipe and also need to concrete encase the main sewer pipes, you will need one of these guys anyway. They are like a middleman, between the public and Sydney Water. They should be able to give you an estimate of costs.

Did you ever get a resolution on this?
I’m going through the exact situation with a sewer line beneath my property with a connecting vent line where I want to build a swimming pool.
Any advice around costs and process would be greatly appreciate

As Stewie has said, speaking to a WSC is the only way to go about it. I would recommend speaking to Harrison Friedmann and Associates. I have found that they come up with the most cost-effective, and intelligent solutions RE Sydney water assets. For both of you guys, the sewer line isnt really your issue (depending upon depth), its definitely the vent shaft.
