Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Dec 26, 2020 2:02 pm We just moved into a property recently. Our neighbour which live on the sloping hill above us also just bought in after us. Their house was recently built and sold by a developer. The fence which sits on a retaining wall is made of glass. I only just aware after they moved in, that, their ground level is actually where the glass fence starts. This means when they're using their yard / mowing lawn etc. They look straight down to out back yard and bed room windows. What can I do in this case? Will I be able to erect a fence on my side of the property, there is a retaining wall on our side around 2m upto their ground level and another 1.5m of their glass panel as their fence. I'd love to cover their glass on our side of the fence, which will block them over looking into out yard but this would also block their view. Would love to hear your opinions. Thank you. Re: Glass fence over looking backyard 2Dec 27, 2020 12:21 am Can you add a photo? A glass boundary fence sounds interesting. Is it a new fence installed by their builder or by the builder of your property to provide light to your block since you have 2 meter high retaining walls so you are below natural ground level. It may be helpful to talk to your neighbor. Screening plants may be another solution. I’d suggest you check your state laws Example: Can I build a fence inside my boundary? Normally, a dividing fence should be erected on the boundary. ... If one owner erects a fence inside a boundary the neighbour may be tempted to make use of the land thereby creating possible future problems.Nov 14, 2014 lawhandbook.sa.gov.au › ... The glass fence is from their builder, I'm assuming to provide them maximum view from their deck. We're on the lower slope, they can't see us from the deck only when they come to the fence, ie. Mowing etc and it's pretty annoying since we sit outside quite a bit. The retaining wall was probably from the old builder, to make their yard flat. We have bought some Lillie pillie hedge but the part next to the retaining wall is all rock with little soil cover, so that was not a usable solution. Can provably fence up a stick and wire line to make a jasmine climber fence upto the top of their glass wall. If this is a possible solution, we would likely do it. But might take a few years...
