Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 23, 2022 2:26 pm Hi guys, just wondered what colour overhead cupboards for the kitchen would work best with our other selections. Tossing up between Laminex 'Natural Walnut' and Laminex 'Aged Walnut'. If anyone has any comment, it'd be much appreciated. We are having a pretty decent 3.7m long kitchen and 3.5m island bench , so I don't want to stuff it up. Floor tiles will be a light grey tile, called Infinite Greige (looks a little brown in some lights and more grayish in darker rooms), Lamiex 'Parchment' base cupboards (to whole kitchen), 'Ice Snow' Caesarstone benchtop and mosaic splash back pictured. Thanks 😁 Re: Colour Advice 2Jun 23, 2022 3:03 pm Based on your description, I'd go for "Natural Walnut". Your kitchen sounds more on the lighter colour side. Even on Caesarstone website they paired with lighter woodgrain finish. If your kitchen had more darker features, Aged Walnut would work better in my opinion. Not sure if you could see the photos I attached, the mosaic does have some very dark bits, not sure if that would balance it enough. Hubby really likes the dark Aged Walnut so if it can work he'd be happy🤣 Re: Colour Advice 5Jun 23, 2022 3:59 pm ...oh...I'd re consider that mosaic splash back. Is it going to be a country style interior? It's too busy on the eyes I feel, and too much grout to keep clean. I'd pick something similar to the benchtop for splashback. Even a clear/white glass one could work better. Re: Colour Advice 6Jun 24, 2022 10:21 am We're actually copying a Metricon kitchen we visited -the Lincoln, and believe it or not but it didn't look too busy, they used this exact mosaic. And we did this at our last house, a few yrs ago, as we loved it then too & it worked. I'll attach photos. Just since then Laminex have changed their colours so we can't do the exact same unfortunately. Re cleaning, the mosaics just got a sealer put on top at our last house, after handover, by hubby & they didn't stain at all & were very easy to clean despite me being an avid cooker & them getting quite dirty. I know they look hard to deal with. Re: Colour Advice 8Jun 24, 2022 10:24 am And no we're not doing country style kitchen, just plain, but trying to do slightly contrasting colours like in the photos😊 Versaloc is a mortarless besser block system that still needs a properly engineered footing. If you just do a 400x200 footing it will fail in time. At 17m long you need it… 1 15684 Thank you so much for the effort. We will use it to talk with builder.
