Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 03, 2020 9:01 pm Hi everyone, We want to have a fixed door and a sliding door each 1.2m width for TV room. The builder has quoted $5000 considering Hume entrance doors. Does anyone know if we can install these doors after handover? There is a bulkhead in the entrance of the living room, and the builder said they just can install some noggings on bulkhead but nothing??more. I am looking for something like the picture below: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ ??Thanks! Re: TV Room Sliding Door installation after handover 2Nov 03, 2020 11:08 pm There are a couple of options: 1) Remove the bulkhead and install a new bulkhead with the sliding track built into it. Needs to be robust enough to handle the weight of the doors, so the bulkhead will need to be reinforced witt braces. 2) Keep the current bulkhead and install a barn door sliding track onto it. Again it needs to handle the weight of the doors you want. Option 2 is more DIY friendly and likely to be more cost effective. Depending on where this room is, you might need to have an engineer approve the adjustment to the bulkhead if there's a major structural beam running above it. Hope this helps. Option 1 is better but would be too much trouble for us I guess. so we will ask builder to do it. Thanks for your help! I’m in a similar position except I’m after sliding 3 stacking doors.
