Door knob stuck to door - advice please :)

Hi

I'm trying to remove a door knob that's somehow adhered to the door and won't budge.

I've tried sliding a Stanley knife under the rose to pry it off - no luck.

I've also tried hammering out the knob from the hole on the other side of the door - no luck.

An identical knob set was removed from another door with no issues.

Any ideas what I can do aside from attempting to saw it off?

I'm tearing my hair out in frustration!

how hard have you hit it with the hammer? it looks like it is just stuck on with years of paint

It's most likely been installed when the paint was still wet so is stuck.
Just give the handle a quick, sharp hit down. Usually the palm of the hand is enough to get the paint to give way.
Sometimes it will pull paint off the door so if you cut around the rose with a sharp blade it won't remove paint from a visible area.

Thanks guys, I found a hammer with a longer head so was able to give it a stronger strike and it finally came off. Who knew paint could grip like that !!

Thanks for the tip - you saved me from getting a saw out. Wouldn't have ended well lol
